Second Master's Honest Advice Please

I did my Bachelor's and Master's in English Language & Literature, then worked as a content writer, but I felt zero growth and eventually burned out badly enough that I quit this April.

In the middle of all that I'd been applying to German universities for a second Master's (thinking of an easier way to get into research). I got rejected from 3 universities last intake, and two days ago I got admitted to Göttingen for an MA in English Language, Literatures, and Culture for winter intake.

Now I'm stuck wondering if this actually adds anything (apart from easy way to German PhD path) or if it's just an expensive way to avoid facing my actual career problem, especially since I'd be taking an education loan, need a part-time job to survive there, and don't speak German fluently. And all this will delay my completion of master's.

Has anyone done a second Master's in the same or a similar field as their first. Was it worth it, or did you regret it? And for English/Humanities folks specifically, do you think I should rather apply for direct Ph. D programs and not a second master's?

Can I appear for UGC NET in Linguistics though my M.A is in English Literature?

For context, I did bachelor's in Functional English and master's in English Language and Literature. Please let me know if I'm eligible to appear for UGC NET in Linguistics for December cycle 2026.

Thanks in advance : )
