Noob String Question!

Hello everyone- 57 year old Noob here!

I have a used Ibanez GSR 200 I bought from Guitar Center- ordered online and shipped to my local store. I ended up pairing it with a Rumble 25 (Floor Demo-to good to pass up over the 40 at $90 tags still on it).

I am almost wrapping up Module 1 in Beginner to Badass. I am doing very well and having a blast.

Thanks to all of you for your guidance- you nailed it!

String Question:

Question Setup-The strings that came on my bass are, of course, of unknown (at least to me) age, quality, brand, model, etc.

They tune with ease and stay in tune for about 3, 30 min sessions before needed a little tune. They have no spots, rust, etc. and no spurs or bumps. To a noob like me they seem absolutely fine but I would not know if they were not.

Questions-

How does a novice know when it is time to replace the strings? Should I just restring so I know where my baseline is?

AND

Once I do replace the strings, approximately how long will a set last for me: Novice-Practicing-30 min-7x per week?

So happy to be here.

A Postcard from Wayne

“Yes, we see Wayne often. We can tell it's him because he keeps mostly to himself while the koi are generally together. Also, he is bright orange and quite large. He moves around the pond and eats and seems to be doing well. He is a fine addition to the pond.”

Tanks for Everything! Aka: Final Wayne Update.

Wayne is doing well in his pond next door. His gift to me was the world’s most cycled tank ever which I have restocked with minnows. I love minnows. Thanks for all the love for Wayne. Peace out!

Wayne’s (new) World

Acclimation went great.

The pond has a healthy but light stock of both Goldies and Koi. I saw some commons a little smaller than Wayne.

I got to see Wayne swim and explore his new home. My neighbors actually have another pond with 100 fish in it!

Wayne is happy and so am I.

Moving Day!

Wayne and I am excited 🧡

Here is his final tank vid along with a pic of the day we met when I saved him from almost certain death in the comments.

If that’s movin’ up, then Wayne’s movin’ out!

Wayne the Fairly Common Goldfish moves to his forever home in my neighbor’s Koi Pond this Saturday at 3:00pm.
