HR sent this 12+ hours ago then silence, wwyd?

So I’ve provided my references last week, and today on Friday, I asked for a status update, to which they responded with this. I’d assume it’s a tentative offer but HR did not actually get back to me within EOD. Should I follow up again today about this or wait until Monday? Thanks!!

Edit: let it be known I started this job app back in Feb😐so it’s been quite slow going this entire time, but I’d like to cinch something down for certain of course.

When to hear back after reference check?

Be it an offer or rejection, when have people (generally) heard back after references were called/how long does it normally take?

For me, all of my references let me know they were called yesterday so now I’m antsy as hell just waiting for the outcome of this whole ordeal. HR and I already discussed salary range and start date at the first phone screening and our last communication was last week when I provided my reference so I have no idea what the timeline is now or what they’re doing internally.

I had 3 interview rounds up until now, and haven’t hashed out a final decision date at all and I don’t know if I should ask or if that’s just being bothersome either. Would love some input!

Likelihood of offer after references?

After three rounds of interviews, I was asked for three references which I provided Wednesday. Friday (yesterday), I was let known that HR is soon going to contact them. So I imagine I’ll hear back late next week or the week after.

I know a reference check isn’t indicative of an offer (otherwise they would’ve outright given me the offer with it of course) but I do wonder how often it is that people are rejected after a reference check? Does anyone know how many final candidates would likely be asked for refs or what the referees can be asked?

Context is that I’m in the U.S., and this is for an entry level role at a mid-size law firm. In my current role I got the job after one interview and it was mainly because my interviewer (my current supervisor) got on so well, so the reference check back then was practically just formalities and I knew I got the job in the bag during the singular interview. This employer, I’m not sure at ALL and I’m shocked I even made it this far.

I’ll definitely update when I get a response back but in the meantime my nerves are frazzled and I’d love some input from anyone who has gone through this/is going through this too!
