Low water levels.

Low water levels.

Booked a trip for mid September and wondering about water levels on the petawawa river between misty and grassy bay as well as McIntosh creek. On Jeff’s maps it indicated late in the paddling season low water levels often make travel challenging and difficult. What does Jeff consider late in the paddling season? September or October. I’m 7 hours away and haven’t been paying much attention to how much rainfall the areas gotten recently.

Any insight on current water levels?
Has anyone done this section recently or have in mid September before.

Thanks in advance!

Swift canoes

Looking into purchasing a swift canoe.
For those who have a swift. Which material did you choose and why? Are you happy with the choice.

Is Kevlar fusion tough enough or should I upgrade to the expedition Kevlar?
I have noticed that the majority of their rentals are Kevlar fusion, does that mean it strong enough for the backcountry or it’s popular because it’s the cheapest option?

Originally was looking at Swift, Nova craft and H20 but think Swift is our best choice!

Curious to what lakes have designated food barrel hangs?

Not that I necessarily want to stay there. I thought they were only on lakes near Canoe lake access. But I was surprised to read about a designated barrel hang on the upper northwest side of the park. McManus access if I remember correctly.

Nippising, Tim, or Petawawa River

What’s everyone’s favourite river to paddle? And what’s your favourite route? I’m thinking September, but worried about water levels.
