C. Krainziana specimen repot panic
I’m brand new to this subreddit for this reason lol I just got my hands on a nice big copiapoa krainziana and when I took it home I noticed the roots were VERY wet and the medium was very peat heavy and organic. I unpotted it and started pulling the old soil out to give it a new inorganic and airy mix for my climate (Austin Texas) which works great for all my other copiapoa.
THE PANIC has come from me realizing that I just soaked the roots in water as to not break a ton of the fine roots off when pulling the super fiber like already saturated medium out. That means now the roots are completely soaked and though free from their old soil, now are exposed certainly slightly damaged (though not as much as they would be if I tried taking the medium apart without excess water and spraying it out with the kitchen faucet)
Should my next course of action be to allow the roots to air dry for a couple days with some fans and a little warmth then pot up and treat like a normal copiapo repot and wait 2 weeks before watering? What are yalls thoughts on this process? Have I just given this beautiful thing a death sentence?
