Hello, fellow Nyota enthusiasts! 👋🏼

It’s me — your one-person mod team — and I think it’s time to search for some new help for this lovely community.

So, I’m looking for ONE awesome person to join me as a moderator of r/NyotaCollectors! (Note: Mods are thankless, volunteer roles!)

The sub isn’t terribly busy, but there are enough BST posts, reports, and general mod things happening that having another set of eyes would make a huge difference.

And no, you do not need previous mod experience. What I’d love to find is a reliable, reasonable human who actually enjoys hanging out in the community. 💜

🛸 What would you actually do?

The biggest part of being a mod here is pretty simple: keep an eye on the queues.

In particular:

Needs Review → Primarily BST posts waiting for approval
Unmoderated → Posts/comments that need moderator attention
Reports → Occasionally reviewing anything the community flags

BST posts need to meet our posting requirements before they’re approved. If something is missing, there are existing macros you can use and customize to let the user know what they need to fix.

(The most common offenders? Forgetting to specify PayPal and/or Venmo Goods & Services or not having item in hand.)

There may also be occasional rule questions, removals, or other routine moderation things, but this is not a high-volume role and I’m absolutely not looking for someone to spend their entire life moderating on Reddit.

🌙 Bonus points for night owls!

This is probably the biggest gap I’m hoping to fill.

I’d especially love someone who generally checks in throughout the day but who might be naturally around 8 PM EST or later.

Are you:
🌙 A certified night owl?
🌴 A West Coaster?
🌎 Somewhere in a time zone where 8 PM EST is basically still daytime?

You might be exactly who I’m looking for.

There are often posts that come through later in the evening and then sit in the queue for several hours because… well… your current solo mod is a human being who occasionally has to sleep!

You will NOT be expected to work shifts or be available every night. I’m just looking for someone whose normal Reddit habits give us some additional evening/overnight coverage.

👀 Being active is important!

This one is worth emphasizing:
I need an active Reddit user.

You don’t need to post every day, comment constantly, or live on Reddit. But you should regularly use Reddit and remain active in the community in terms of moderating.

There’s a practical reason for this beyond simply wanting someone who checks the queues: Reddit can mark moderator accounts as inactive when they aren’t sufficiently active.

Ideally, you’re already someone who regularly hangs out around r/NyotaCollectors and understands the community you’re helping moderate.

💜 What I’m looking for

You do not need to have been a moderator before.

What matters more to me is that you’re:

-An active member of the community
-Familiar with our rules and BST guidelines
-Reasonable and consistent when applying rules
-Comfortable asking questions when you’re unsure
-Willing to learn Reddit’s moderation tools
-Able to check the queues periodically when you’re around
-Comfortable communicating with me about questionable situations
-Respectful and level-headed when dealing with users
-Interested in actually being part of the community long-term
