We have had a consistent puddle beneath the condensation pump on our furnace (replaced in 2012) for the last week or so. Our landlord has investigated and "can't find any moisture or leak within the furnace" (note he is not an HVAC expert and has no construction experience) and is trying to convince me it's "just groundwater seepage" and it's a "semi-wet basement" so there's no need to worry. I am skeptical because it's several feet out from the nearest wall and is occuring in one of the tallest/thickest parts of the concrete slab. All my research suggests seepage/groundwater issues usually occur around the wall edge, and common sense suggests that it would be more likely to occur in the lower/more depressed areas of the floor (which is very uneven).

Could this actually conceivably be groundwater seepage/efflorescence?

(He seems to have no plans to address the seepage one way or the other.)
Hello all!
As the title says, I was let go from my job of 10+ years. It was a great job for awhile, but in the last few years it turned increasingly toxic (partly due to generative AI). It was a devastating loss followed by a difficult, extended legal proceeding that is finally reaching a resolution. Things are tough, but they're looking up. I'm grateful every day I don't have to engage with that industry anymore, and I'm on a path to a new career that doesn't make me want to hurl things out my window.
On that note, I just found my 10-year service pin while I was cleaning my desk. Is there anything I can do to dispose of it and also the bad vibes that go with it? I don't want to keep it, but just chucking it in the trash also feels wrong. I would love to take a hammer to it, just with some intent towards healing and moving forward rather than dredging up all the anger I've been working through.
Thanks all!
My senior mother with mobility limitations has taken the train from Kitchener to visit me in Ottawa once or twice a year for the last 3 years. Without fail, every single time, her first train from Kitchener to Toronto is delayed by literally hours.
Her initial itinerary always includes a 2+ hour layover in Toronto. Should be lots of buffer right? And yet, every. single. time. she needs her connection rebooked. She's supposed to arrive at 8pm but she has never arrived before 10. When I call Via Rail, they tell me "her second train [rebooked] arrived within the 60 minute window, so she doesn't qualify for a 50% off coupon". But she was only rebooked because the first train was HOURS late and her whole itinerary needed to be adjusted! (I have fought this every time and they eventually do issue the coupon.)
I know this route is notoriously unreliable, but seriously??
Why does Via Rail even bother with a schedule?
Thank you for reading my pointless yelling into the void.

(She tried taking the GO train to Toronto once, and it got fully cancelled so she had to book with Via anyway at same day prices $$$)
