Has anyone here rented with a service/assistance animal where the animal wasn’t disclosed until after applying or signing the lease?

How did it go? Did you have any issues with your landlord afterward, or was everything completely fine?
I’m specifically looking for real world experiences from people who have actually been in this situation, whether the experience was smooth or not. Even if it happened years ago, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. 🙂
We’re in California and have unfortunately been having difficulty finding housing with private homeowners.
