Teahouse recs from solo trekker
Just did EBC+chola+gokyo solo. Some tea houses I really enjoyed/had a memorable stay at.
Benkar Viewpoint, Benkar - lovely owners, great food, friendly dogs, amazing view of river/mountains in morning, and one of the cleanest tea houses I stayed in. I liked it so much I stayed with them again on the way down.
*It's 30-40min further up than Phakding, Benkar is quieter, you avoid the agency traffic jam when they leave for Namche the next morning.
Sunshine View Lodge, Khumjung. khumjung overall feels a lot more local, less commercialized than Namche, definitely worth a visit. Lovely sunroom, I was the only guest when I was there. Owner is a climbing guide so will talk to you about the peaks he's climbed and which ones he is guiding next.
Tengboche Guesthouse - Apple pie. Pretty busy teahouse, but owner looked at map with me and suggested different routes, iteniaries, and stops. Also the apple pie....
Cholase Inn - less teahouse, more hotel. In Zongla, with excellent views of Ama Dablam and on a sunny day, the common room becomes incredibly toasty. Probably best night of sleep I got above 4500m.
