7 communal showers total. Interesting to see the exposed toilet, I wonder the reason why? Perhaps both toilets were at one point out in the open, judging by the boiler vents to the bottom right of the photo, and the relative newness of the stalls? The lack of hot water was disappointing, but something tells me this is temporary. The lone urinal in the last photo is located in the main men’s bathroom, rather than the pool locker room. Overall a good CS facility, minus the unavailability of hot water.

Ever taken a shower in a CS that was this regulated? Where at, when, and why?

Stopped by Ridge Park Fieldhouse for a swim in the indoor pool recently. It was my first time there and these signs caught me off guard. Outside of one (open to the public elementary) school pool, I have never seen time limit signs or similar in Chicago Park District locker rooms. It just so happens that my shower fell under one of the sanctioned timeframes, so no problemo (though I was alone in the locker room for almost the entire time). Any guesses why the above is the case? I had hot water throughout and there were 7 showers total so I wouldn’t say it’s an availability issue. By “Public showers…” could that be for times the general public or unhoused are allowed to shower? Thoughts?

Eckhart Park Pool, Chicago, IL (Indoor)

5 communal showers total, plus 4 or 5 stalls opposite the open wall with curtains. It’s unfortunate to see the middle shower pipe capped off. Not the first time I’ve come across this at a Chicago Park District locker room. Shower stalls have also been a rarity in Chicago, I wonder why they were retrofitted in? Otherwise an older, but entirely comfortable and ideal setup. Love the communal urinals too!
