Mounting a gate right here

I'm looking to mount a gate here. I'm thinking of mounting a piece of wood to the wall and then mounting a gate to it.

I noticed the corner of that wall is metal since I can stick a fridge magnet there. Since it's metal I'm thinking of drilling in between the metal corners.

Does anyone know if it's generally strong enough to mount a gate there? Any suggestions on the best way to do this? I'm really interested to know what it looks like behind the wall behind the paint.

For mounting, I plan on putting 6 to 8 drywall screws or anchors into the wall. Any particular drywall
