What were some mistakes you made when you were a beginner?

I always find it interesting to reflect on the knowledge we gain with time and experience.

So just curious, what are some mistakes you made early in your walstad/aquarium journey? What are some things you learned? Or things you'd tell your beginner self if you went back in time.

What plants can I add to this tank to make it look less naked and depressing?

So this is the first walstad I made a year ago. It used to be quite the jungle and was really colourful, but a while ago I removed a bunch of plants to use in a different tank. And some others died off as it got overcrowded and certain nutrients got depleted.

I really dislike how sad and bare it looks right now and wanted some suggestions for how to pretty her up.

I'm reluctant to put any plants behind the hardscape as it is quite difficult to do maintenance. Any ideas for plants and where to put them would be appreciated.

The tank is still a bit cloudy from a bacterial bloom, so sorry if it's hard to see clearly.
