Exchanging an in store purchase when they don't have the correct size

Hi all,

Purchased a sweater at my local RL store during the purple label sale a couple of weekends ago as a gift. They didnt have the size, but they told me to purchase on in a bigger size and to exchange it when they managed to get stock. I've been told that they aren't able to get the item in there, despite there being stock both online and at multiple other stores. The sales assistant hasn't who I made the purchase with hasn't been helpful at all, and because this is a new store, none of their stock appears online. There isn't a store with me that has stock either.

My questions are:

  1. If I purchase one at full price online, have it delivered to the store, can I return it there so they have the item in stock?
  2. Is there anything I can do to get this item from another store sent there?

For context, UK trained surgical specialist, moved to the US and looking for attending jobs.

I’ve not had to put a US style CV together before and going to a few workshops have provided pretty generic advice, but it seems that US CVs for non medical jobs are much shorter than I am used to.

What is the default format, and do I need to include a cover letter? Aside from education/employment/relevant publications what else would be included?
