Anniversary Pain?
I had ORIF + tightrope almost exactly a year ago for a broken fibula and recovered pretty quickly and am back to 95-100% most days. I've only had a couple of pain days, but those were usually directly tied to some strenuous activity and went away a couple days after.
Literally right after my 1 year check up early last week, I started having pain in my ankle again. Dr. looked at the X-rays, checked ROM, told me to stretch more, and said I don't need to come back unless something new comes up. The new pain is nothing unbearable, but it's noticeable, and shifts between pain at the tightrope button and joint pain in the ankle. It was probably stupid, but this past weekend (4 days after checkup) I did a relatively long but leisurely bike ride, some light jogging at the gym, and my most recent activity was some bouldering on Monday (I broke it bouldering).
I haven't done anything out of the ordinary since Monday (I'm writing this on Thursday) and have been resting it mostly. Today, it's pain when flexing my ankle and noticeable when walking.
I'm going to contact my doctor but worry it's just psychological stuff and trauma-related due to the timing and some increased activity. Has anyone had something similar?
tl;dr has anyone dealt with pain around their injury anniversary that could be psychological?
