Film Photography recommendations Sydney

Hi all! For those of you out there who love film over digital, or digital edited to look like film, who did you book for your photography? I’m looking for recommendations for a 2027 winter wedding in western Sydney. 35mm and super8.

Moody, nostalgic, vintage style, glowy, sentimental family portraits, nothing too posed or extreme because I’m awkward AF.

Have looked at: heartland studio (prob my top pick) the sentimental photographer, solealane (not available) storytelling co, hello heartstrings.

Would appreciate any other recommendations!

Stop trying to call me!!

I’m getting so annoyed at venues allowing you to send through an in depth request for quote via the website, requesting pricing etc (the lack of visibility is bad enough) and then calling you to say ‘let’s talk through your dream wedding’ instead of sending me a price breakdown of what I’ve asked for. I HATE talking on the phone, I work full time and have a toddler and don’t have time to do all of these site visits…. God it’s ANNOYING AF!!!

Western Sydney 2027 Wedding

Hi everyone! 2027 bride here 😊

Originally, we were planning to elope due to costs, but our families have very generously gifted us money so we can now have a reception as well. We’re both quite introverted and still want to keep the ceremony private and intimate, with immediate family only. We’ve decided on Penrith/surrounds for the reception because we both love the west and honestly wouldn’t want it anywhere else!
We’re trying to be really intentional with our spending, with a budget of around $20k for 50–60 guests. The vibe we’re going for is laid back, casual, and non traditional.

I’ve already reached out to the following venues for quotes, but I’d love any additional venue suggestions, as well as recommendations for celebrants who would suit a small private ceremony. Also if the celebrant can recommend ceremony locations that are 1. Free 2. Accessible for older people and 3. Great for photos, that would be fab!!

- The log cabin
- Emu hall
- 2773 Glenbrook
- Penrith regional gallery
- Laughin boy
- Mr Watkins
- Theo’s rooftop bar
- Penrith Rowing club

Appreciate any suggestions for venues around Penrith and lower blue mountains!! Just not panthers hahahaha
