Fat to Fit

M70... 7 years ago, I was 280 lbs with a 48" waist. I changed my eating habits and dropped about 50 lbs over about 2 years. Unfortunately, the damage was done. 6 years ago, my heart couldn't take anymore and started failing. I was on a heart pump (LVAD) for 3 years until my body rejected it, and my only options were a heart transplant or slow painful death. A little over 2 years ago, after a long stint in the hospital, I received the new heart. I was 68 at the time and the new heart 28 years old. My muscles had atrophied to a point that I couldn't even stand on my own. I had about 20% muscle development throughout my body. It took about a year and a half of physical therapy and going to the hospital rehab gym until I actually outgrew the capabilities of that gym. On recommendation of my therapists, I joined a local gym. I started out going 2 to 3 times per week for an hour or so each visit. It took some time to get into a rhythm and become a bit of a morning gym rat. I'm now 180 lbs and have a 33" waist after about 8 months. Unfortunately, from allowing myself to become so fat, I still have a lot of loose skin around my waist. I may be 70 years old, but I refuse to give up.
