NAS drive suggestions

Hello!

We're looking for some bulk storage that will live in a CMMC enclave. It looks like my fav NAS drives - Synology - aren't compliant. Seems like TrueNAS and Buffalo have compliant products - has anyone used these or could suggest another product?

Anyone using the "Connectwise platform"?

I was logging in to CW Home this am and noticed that the version of CW that I use is now called "classic". The version under it is called the "Platform". Now, I admit to not paying too much attention to this - I just click on the top one.

Has anyone used the "Platform"? Is this Asio? I've got so much crap integrated with "Classic" I really don't want to migrate....If there is a deadline for classic, I'd have to evaluate all the other platforms.....

Ninja One agent dying

Hello!

We moved from Automate about a year ago. We've been pretty happy - the remote control part works better than before - but we continue to have issues where the N1 agent just "dies". The service is scheduled to restart it twice and then do nothing.

Before i start experimenting with just restarting it forever I thought I'd ask if this is a thing for anyone else?

Outside financing

Hello!

I'm wondering if anyone has a great 3rd party financing organization/person. All we're trying to do is get financing for server projects as an option for clients.

We've been through the disty's financing and it makes me wonder more every day how they're still in business.

Compliance Frameworks

What compliance frameworks, if any, are you folks using for internal systems? We have used the Galactic networks MSP compliance framework (IDK exactly what they base theirs on) but since we moved on from them we're looking around. I've read that SOC2 is a good structure but wonder if it's in use a general-purpose 10 person MSP's.

Working with local firms

I’m bidding on some out of town work and will be partnering with local firms for boots on the ground. These are MSP engagements. How do ya’ll structure those agreements with the local support firms?

My first thought was that we just pay it out of our MSP fees but then I thought that might not be smart. In the event there was a serious issue, our local partner might burn up a lot of time.

Would a lower MSP fee with onsite time billed hourly work better?

Would you do this?

We got a call out of the blue from someone interested in our services. A dozen users spread across the country. Found us via google. Sent them a proposal for our usual stack. They declined most of the optional stuff but have agreed to our usual stack. Supposed to have a final meeting next week or so.

Would you take a client like this? I've never met them in RL. They do seem to have a legit website - but that ain't hard. My concern is more around cybersecurity - If they're a bad actor does having our stack on their machines expose us? I can't see a way but just wondering....

Update to my post of last week: The D&H folks did ultimately come down on this like a ton of bricks and sort out the server ordering process.

Some might throw rocks at me for posting that and there were questions about not contacting our account manager.

To this I'd reply that my business has never been big enough to get literally anything done through an AM. We didn't have a MS TAM back in the day and we've always been one step behind Dell as well. When you're my size there is rarely an AM to help. The best you get is a "AM group".

That's the reason I didn't reach out to anyone. It's never worked. In this case, it did. Credit where due.

The ongoing Dell server madness. Yes, we lost the ability to buy Dell servers through Premier. We started quoting the systems through Premier and then just sending that to D&H. It added time to the cycle but it worked well enough....

Today D&H is telling me that I have to provide the cost for EVERY line item in the quote. The usual quote that I get from dell doesn't include line item costs. It DOES include part # and quantity but not cost.

It's also clear that the different departments in D&H don't talk or have the same understanding. The Dell team has a different understanding than does SMB sales. If I have to provide a line item cost for every line item, I'm not sure what value they add? Plus, that would be a lot of work.

For others buying through other disty's, do you have to do the line item cost thing?
