Is buying an F350 with the 5.4l v8 and a 1988 Bigfoot 9.5' camper a mistake?

As the title states. I'm looking at buying a truck and a truck camper to live in for a couple of years. I've been on the market a bit in British Columbia where I live. There is a 2004 Ford F350 5.4l v8 with 212k kilometers (131k miles) paired with a 1988 bigfoot camper that I quite like for $16,500. They're flexible on the price and it's been up for a bit, so my hope is that I could get the combo for $15,000 CAD.

Would this be a mistake? At my price point, everything either has issues or is super high mileage. I know that the 5.4l engines aren't great, but it's the 2v version, and it has relatively low mileage. I think I'd prefer that to other options like a 2006 3500 cummins with a camper that's got 350k km (217k miles) for $20,000 CAD. Is this mindset a mistake? I know that's objectively a better truck, but it's $5,000 more, and it sounds like I can expect to spend more on redoing the transmission and probably the front end. The cheapest trucks are usually F350's with the 6.0l or 6.7l diesel engines, which I understand I don't want.

Any advice is appreciated!
