Hourly vs salary experiences?

I’m a speech therapist and work in outpatient rehab. All my jobs have been paid hourly, so when things get busy and I’m seeing a bunch of patients, I get paid overtime if I need to chart late or census is high. Granted, they didn’t like paying me time and a half so they would try to keep the schedule manageable. I barely had to work overtime.

I am starting a new job that is paid salary, but bonuses will be given for productivity based on RVUs billed per quarter. So my thought process is that instead of getting compensated via overtime during busy times it’ll be paid via the bonus. This is an entirely new system to me. I’m a little worried I’ll be working over 40 hours a ton due to being salaried. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of a bonus for productivity but I also value a work life balance too.

Looking for suggestions on how to set boundaries or red flags to look out for in this type of set up? I’d like to start strong rather than have to back track if shit gets overwhelming. My hackles are a tiny bit raised because this clinic is a corporate chain type vibe so I’m worried about the drive for profit. I took the job because the pay is good, benefits are better than I’ve ever had and they are providing me a hefty moving bonus (was going to be moving to that town regardless of what job I got). It’s also a special multidisciplinary clinic quite unique for speech therapists.

Thanks!

Provider vs facility fees?

I am a pediatric speech therapist in an outpatient setting so have some knowledge regarding medical codes and billing, certainly more than the general public but in terms of providers, probably not a ton as I only use a handful of different codes in my practice.

Can you please explain why I get separate bills from radiologists vs the facility? I recently had imaging done and I have a few separate chargers, which is understandable because I can see what the codes are for, but the problem is I had thought I paid for the bill over a year ago (because I paid for 2 of the 3 codes) yet today I just received a bill, a year later, from the radiologist.

I’ve been playing phone tag with the hospital, insurance and the billing companies. I guess the radiologists just changed billing companies so we are getting bills from over two years old. When I called the hospital billing department they said they have no control over the radiology bill, that I should call their billing department, which I did but they said they didn’t get the bill until recently to send to me. How can I hold the radiologist/that portion of the company responsible for such a late bill? Is that a thing? Am I being a Karen?

Is there any argument to not pay a bill because it came so late? Is this just health insurance hell pay to play??? I feel like a clown bouncing to all these different companies trying to figure out who should be responsible for charging me over a year late when I fully thought I had already paid off that visit.

About to sign a lease in the wedge. I lived in south uptown years ago but it’s been several years since I’ve lived in Minnesota.

I’m 31f and will be living alone in a garden unit with street parking closer to the hennepin side.

Anything I need to know? Safety? Car precautions? Favorite spots in the area? Also curious if anyone commutes from that area via bike or bus (or car tbh) to Edina and how it is.
