Image 1 — Olsha - DayZ’s finest spawn town that isn’t actually a spawn town. Ditch svetlo and run up the hill for a quieter early looting experience. Food is abundant, fruit trees everywhere, a reliably safe well, a hunting store, and a priestly infected ready to absolve you of your future sins.

Myshino tents man. Genuinely terrified every time i visit. It’s almost impossible not to alert the infected. Alert one, the rest follow and it’s a lot of em. The treeline to the east is teeming with campers, and there’s nowhere to safely run or hide. Butt-clenchingly intimidating.

What is the most dangerous well in dayz? The well that you skip out of the utmost paranoia, even at your most dehydrated…the well that fuels your nightmares…the well cursed by the spectral laugh of kuru killers…across all maps, official or community.

Stary Yar - The forgotten outpost, lost to time and infection. It’s always worth a stop if you get a northeast spawn. Stockpile supplies before your trip to tisy, and don’t miss the hunting houses as you enter and leave the village. Remember to take in the view from the cliffs.

Sometimes, my only goal when i log on is to go treasure hunting. I get a real kick out of exploring Chernarus’s nooks and crannies for stashes. I abide by the take a penny leave a penny mentality, but sometimes my inner demon just likes to ruin someone’s day.

Pondering the great enigmas of DayZ. Like…where the fuck are all the spark plugs? Are those footsteps? Is everyone insane in Kamyshovo? Are those footsteps? How’d that zombie get on that roof? Are those footsteps? Does human meat taste good? Those must be footsteps!?

Black Lake, a top 3 place i’d want to live in Chernarus. Nestled away from violent POIs, it’s the peaceful player’s dream. Bail on your lower Berezino spawn and immediately run here for great early hunting loot. Take in the view then dip out to Olsha for food and water. Where would you want to live?

PSA: Lighthouses are meant to be defenders of life, not deliverers of death. Do not jump! Life is precious! Look at that view! But if you do jump, definitely don’t eat your pear before you do…

Who else adds little hidden ponds to their official loot routes? Even the ones far inland are scheduled fishing/water breaks for me. One stop and you’re covered for a couple hours, at least. Not a bad place to catch your breath.

If you’re wandering in the woods and stumble upon a small radio tower, you have no other choice but to climb to the top of it. Never skip an opportunity to immerse yourself in the expanse. Just don’t accidentally vault off the top. I’ve definitely never done that before.

Three Valleys is one of Chernarus’s most underrated spawns. The more experience you have with the game, the better it is. The houses may be spread apart, but most spawn hunting gear which can give you a huge advantage early on in your journey. What’s your favorite spawn?

Northwest Evac, Tri Kresta - I’ve never felt so scared in a place so serene. The overlook, the dense forest, bears and wolves abound, players geared to the gills. It’s just a perfect cocktail of cozy and claustrophobic.
