Job Corps is closing and we’re being abandoned

right now i should be counting down the last 10 weeks before finally becoming an LPN, something i’ve busted my ass for. instead, i’m sitting here watching it all fall apart because Job Corps randomly decided to shut our program down with zero warning and no real plan for what happens to us.

this isn’t just some minor inconvenience, it’s wrecking people’s lives. some students here are literally homeless. this place isn’t just school for them, it’s their home, their only stability, their only shot at a different future. now they’re being told to pack up and leave. but leave to where?

we came to Job Corps because we believed in second chances. we wanted to turn things around, get careers, education, some kind of stability. we wanted to be able to give something back. a lot of us are only weeks away from graduating, from becoming nurses, electricians, welders, all the jobs people always say are “in demand.” and now it’s like they’re just throwing us away like we don’t matter.

i’ve put everything into this. i’ve studied, sacrificed, fought through so much to get here. 10 more weeks and i could have had the license that would change my entire life. now i’m staring at nothing: no plan, no home, no clue how i’m supposed to finish what i started.

this shutdown isn’t just some policy move on paper, it’s personal. it’s people’s lives being torn up. it’s futures being trashed. and it’s wrong.

we need people to actually care. we need leaders to step in and do something. we need real answers, not silence.

please don’t let this just fade away.
