ive been wanting to go to this school for their health sci program despite getting offers from western, waterloo, etc. i rlly like the smaller class sizes and ive heard a lot of good things about alumnis and med/dental graduates that came from this program. however, osap is only giving me 10k total grants and loans while the estimated cost is ~25k+ per year (including tuition, residency, meals plans, miscellaneous). id have to pay a 15k diff out of pocket and i dont have a job like that nor do i have enough parental support to fund it. i know the most practical answer is to just go to a school thats nearby so i wont have to pay for residency but as a last ditch of hope, i just wanna see if the finances are manageable for my case cuz ive been thinking of going to this school for a while.
i already know otech is a commuter heavy school but this school cannot be THAT dead bro😭😭😭where do u guys go for parties? toronto? some other school?
i accepted this school because its the most practical but im just really worried about socializing and making friends. im the type of person to be super involved in school and have school spirit but its pretty discouraging at this uni😭
do you guys let money hold you back from going to a university you really want to go to?
thats the exact same problem i have right now and idk what to do. i have 2 choices. my first choice id have to do residency and my estimated total cost is around 25k~. osap is only giving me 10k including grants and loans (i still have to appeal because my prents income are inflated) its expensive but i want to go to this school because of its close knit student community, and well known research and networking opportunities. my 2nd option is a school nearby where i can just commute. yes its saving me a lot of money but its a commuter school and i need to network and find opportunities much harder in order to meet my goals. i also dont know if staying home is a pro because id just go home everyday and wont feel motivated to do any extracurricular activities (this is already me in highschool). if money wasnt an issue i wouldve comitted to the first school already but it is. i dont have much in my resp, barely getting paid at my part time job, dont have any other family here, etc.
