为君酤酒 Wei Jun Gu Jiu (self translation: selling/buying wine for you) by

李渝 Li Yu (https://www.jjwxc.net/onebook.php?novelid=5806382).

Anyone has read or wants to read it? I very much would like to discuss it with someone!

This historical fiction is extremely well written. The style is quite formal, serious, and realistic, based in Late Song dynasty. The author weaves extensive knowledge of ancient Chinese culture.

Character crafting is extraordinary (this author and the author for The Witch Nichang are the two writers who I think master in characters crafting). Both main characters are complex. Their love-hate dynamics is very well written. The anti-patriarchal awakening of one of the MCs (Jiang Man) is extremely well presented, so is her character growth. The other character, Shen Wen, is one of my favorite bottom characters (the other one is Zhu Xian in The Witch Nichang). She is super complex and interesting. Both MC are somewhat contrasting in personality. Oh btw Shen Wen is also the reincarnation MC.

The problem with this novel is that it's written in a refined, dense, esoteric, classical literary style, which made it difficult to read. I am native in Chinese and it is still challenging for me to read it. and I don't think there is a translation. But still, I want to recommend it badly because it is indeed a masterpiece.
