Apologies for the limited info here, I’m only getting bits of a story as my friend is incredibly embarrassed. They’ve been talking to someone online and have been convinced to take a loan out on behalf of this person so they can buy a car. They promised them they’d make the payments and then, obviously, they haven’t. My friend is now stuck paying for this loan, my questions are:

- Is there any legal route for recouping this?
- Has any offence been committed by my friend?
- Is this worth reporting to the police or is it just an expensive lesson to be learnt?
