I’ve recently started wondering if a prototype of a steam-powered tank was ever built. I know the idea sounds far-fetched, but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if such a propulsion system had been experimented with back when tanks were still in their infancy, or perhaps as a solution to Germany's fuel shortages during WWII. For instance, the Germans designed the Lippisch P.13a aircraft, which featured a coal-fired ramjet engine. That’s what prompted my question.
