This is just a quick rant, there’s nothing more annoying than when a candidate asks for a sign on bonus up front.

I’m referring to the recruiter screen or even before they start interviewing.

It’s like you don’t even know what the offer will be yet, why are you asking for a sign on bonus already??

Maybe each company is different but at my company, the sign on bonus is offered very sparingly and is only given in the occasion to close a cash gap against a competing offer.

I’m not opposed to paying a sign on bonus for a stellar candidate I’m trying to close but asking for it upfront gives me the major ick!!
