Best Dns for more security and speed and for overall performance basically

so I heard about NextDNS and I’ve been looking into it for better performance. I already have a Firewalla with pretty much all the security features enabled, but I’m also trying to think about speed and overall DNS performance.
right now I’m using Quad9, but I’m wondering what DNS you guys actually recommend. NextDNS sounds tempting, but I’m not sure if it’s actually worth switching or if I should just stick with Quad9 or something else with Firewalla.
also not sure if there’s any overlap or conflicts between Firewalla’s built-in filtering and external DNS like NextDNS hopefully they don’t step on each other.
what DNS do you recommend for best overall performance + security with Firewalla?

Target lists on msp

I recently got MSP Professional mainly because I wanted access to importing Target Lists. I was actually really tempted to import HaGeZi Pro, but after switching my Gold SE to the Early Access channel, I realized it’s already built in. I had no idea it was only available on Early Access.
Since the built-in Target Lists are managed by Firewalla, I’m assuming those are the ones you recommend for most users.
Now that I have MSP Professional, are there any other third-party Target Lists that you think are actually worth importing? I’m always interested in getting the most out of my Firewalla, so I’d love to know if there are any hidden gems or useful lists that complement the built-in ones, or if you’d mostly stick with the Firewalla-managed lists

Msp

Hi, I have a Firewalla Gold SE and an AP7. I was able to set up my router without any issues, but I don’t remember ever creating an MSP account.
Does setting up the router mean I already have an MSP account, or is that something separate that I still need to create? If I already have one, is there a way to check which email it’s associated with?
Thanks!

Latency issue help

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me troubleshoot because I’ve been dealing with this for a while and I’m not sure where the problem is anymore. My setup is: Firewalla Gold SE, Firewalla AP7, AT&T Fiber (300 Mbps), AT&T BGW620-700 in IP Passthrough, PS5 connected by Ethernet through a gigabit switch, Smart Queue using CAKE in Static mode (270 Mbps download / 260 Mbps upload), Ad Block set to Strict, OISD and DShield target lists enabled, DNS over HTTPS using Quad9 and Cloudflare, and Active Protect enabled. Most of the time everything works perfectly. My connection is extremely smooth, and I consistently get around 6 ms ping while gaming. There are no issues at all. However, every once in a while I’ll suddenly get a lag spike while gaming. In Call of Duty, my game will randomly freeze for about 5–10 seconds, usually in the middle of a match. After that, everything catches up at once and my character teleports. In UFC 6, I recently had a match where the game started lagging for a bit and then I eventually lost connection. Firewalla has also been logging “High Latency Detected on WAN ISP 1” events. One of the recent events showed a test target of 9.9.9.9 (Quad9) with 35.5 ms latency using a ping test. Internet Quality also showed up to 9% packet loss. One issue I had previously was that gaming while downloading games caused latency spikes. I found that removing my PS5 High Priority Smart Queue rule and leaving only the All Devices CAKE rule fixed that issue. Since then, gaming while downloading has been working correctly. However, I’m still experiencing these occasional random lag spikes and disconnects. The confusing part is that my phones and other devices don’t appear to lose internet when this happens. It mainly affects gaming on my PS5. At this point I’m not sure if this is related to my ISP, the BGW620-700 gateway, Firewalla, Smart Queue, DNS/DoH, or something else entirely. Are there any logs or diagnostics I should collect to help identify the cause? Does anything in my setup stand out that could explain these random lag spikes, packet loss, and occasional disconnects?
