What happens in practice with auto liability insurance limits?

Say you have the standard 100k/300k liability policy and are in an accident and an individual has more than 100k in damages. Is it common for the injured party to attempt to go beyond the 100k limit? At what point is it common to attempt to go beyond the limits? 150k damages?

Does the insurance company ever just say here is our 100k, good luck with that?

Do plaintiffs do some sort of asset search before suing? Do they have a way of finding out the insurance policy limits?

Largest student loan debt you ever heard a lawyer finish with?

A relative went through medical school and mentioned how some students had huge undergrad loans followed by equally large medical school debt. 250k was the number I remember ( a few years ago).

What’s the most you ever heard of in terms of student loan debt after law school? Everything combined.

This week a female JP Morgan executive was named in a crazy lawsuit with a bunch of kinda salacious details ( think racial and sexual). The person was able to file the lawsuit as a ‘John Doe’ due to the nature of the suit.

Not after she became a national laughing stock it turns out they are dropping the case. JP Morgan found no evidence any of it was true.

Does she have any recourse? Some people have written that allegations in a lawsuit gives protection from defamation claims? Can the lawyers be held liable?

A friend got towed and it seems like the storage fees are totally unreasonable and have nothing to do with the actual cost to store a car in an open air parking lot.

Why is this legal? Could they just charge $50k a day and go after my house?

Are can I post a sign on my property saying 10k fee for parking?

The same idea with ambulances- can they pick up unconscious me and charge whatever they want?
