cubaris murina “glacier” tips?

cubaris murina “glacier” tips?

hi ^_^

i’m receiving a shipment of cubaris murina “glacier” soon. i have an enclosure (11.8 x 7.8 x5.9 PC tank) all set up with 3-4 inches of substrate, multiple cork flats, limestone chunks, and a side with moss.

is dragon stone okay to include with the isopods? i have it half buried in the dirt on one side. also i heard murinas like to eat live plants, hopefully all the moss and one little fern i planted is okay for them to eat? do i have TOO many pieces of bark? (substrate is covered with leaf litter under the bark)

i’ve had great success with panda kings for over 2 years, so i think im ready for the glaciers but im just making sure. any tips or information that might be useful specifically for murina?

Spooky Randy Allen!

found this deer mount at an antique store. its from 1985 and the guy who killed this buck was named Randy Allen. thought he looks a little too young to be killed for a trophy mount :( figured i would take him home, dust him off and give him a new life. named him Spooky randy allen !!!!

fur was so dusty and it took two rounds of hair dye. this was my first time dying a mount so let me know what you think, any feedback & tips and tricks ^_^

Bunny Paw Charm ^_^

My cat killed a little bunny a while ago and its little paw was all that was left 😿

I mummified it using borax & pickling salt and made it into this little charm!

It was my first time trying my hand at the mummification process. Any tips, feedback?

Skull ID?

I found this partial skull in the woods a while back and never figured out what it was. Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures of the skull before I made this plaque. Found in Southern Ohio. Any ideas?

Panda King Babies ^_^

I got some freeze dried minnows recently and I think my panda kings have been breeding so much faster. Obviously their main diet is leaf litter, I give veggies, and used to occasionally give nutritional yeast for protein. BUT THEY LOVE THE MINNOWS SO MUCH!!!! highly recommend for protein supplement.

ANYWAYS here are some adorable little panda babes on a clump of moss >_< AND some adorable panda not-babies devouring a minnow!

Grey Tree Frog wet specimen?

Hi! I have a grey tree frog named Zephyr, and he’s getting up there in age, so I’m trying to decide what to do with him once he dies.

I’ve been doing taxidermy-adjacent stuff (wet specimens, bug pinning, bone cleaning and art) for like 3-4 years. I have a gallon of formalin, proper PPE, and hypodermic needles for making larger wet specimens, but I’ve been too scared to use it yet.

Would you guys recommend I use formalin to fix him after his eventual death? I’ve only ever done really small specimens & insects that didn’t need “fixed” with formalin, so they’re all in isopropyl. Any tips for using formalin for the first time/tips for creating frog specimens??

Thanks!!! ^_^
