Pulp Fiction and God
Just watched Pulp Fiction for around the 5th time in my life.
When I finished watching it this time around I couldn't stop thinking about the line 'and I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to destroy and poison my brothers' in relation to Vincent's death. In the last scene Jules says that the TRUTH is that he is the tyranny of evil men. We can infer that he means himself, Vincent, Marsellus Wallace, etc. So Jules sees God's sign of the miracle (when all 6 revolver shots missed them), while Vincent did not, thus Vincent was striken down with great vengeance and furious anger by Butch, while Jules had already left. Also there were hints of this throughout the movie. Vincent showed pride throughout the movie compared to Jules's cool and seemingly "ego-less" demeanor. Vincent also says 'but pork tastes good, pork chops taste good' in response to Jules saying he doesn't eat it. Maybe the whole movie is a metaphor for living a righteous life, who knows! Fun topic to think about.
