How long before fines are assessed for Order to Comply from LADBS?

Inspector paid a visit and hung a door tag. Wants to schedule inspection for suspected unpermitted work. How long can one delay that kind of an inspection?

I just bought my home recently and after fixing another thing they came back for a diff item now related to garage conversion. It's frustating that you own your house, pay prop tax and still at the mercy of what you can/can't do like there's a hoa.

Apparently Korean guy took out a loan to buy YOLO into BYND

Seems like he posted recently saying he has to pay back the $55k+ he yolo’d into the stock at $7. Oof investing definitely isn’t for anyone. I do hope he recovers and learn from this

What are my next steps with LADBS?

Bought a house with an unpermitted adu. I have been renting it out as airbnb for over a year now. Recently got ladbs at my house and he said received report of an unpermitted conversion from garage.

I went to website and in person for ladbs but it wasnt a garage but a large structure listed as storage in the blueprints. There werent any permits tho and this property was built long time ago in the 1940s.

At this point what should I do? If I comply I know this will cost a lot of money to make into legal adu or worst yet would he make me take down the whole thing? How much should I expect out of pocket if I comply? If I don’t let him do inspection what exactly happens? I have it booked out for months ahead and it would suck if I lost that since it helps with mortgage. I know the second i let him do instructions the clock ticks and its 30 days. I dont have that type of money currently

Prop inspector from the city knocked on our door today about our back unit

So I got a knock from the city today saying our back unit was converted illegally from a garage to a unit. When I purchased the home it was a mother in law suite based on the home inspection papers we pulled and this was before ADUs were even a thing. They said they will come back another time in the future to do an inspection and if found there's violations we have to potentially convert it or tear it down back into a garage wtf?! From my understanding that can cost easily above 100k and more.

I just got this house 3 years ago and it never mentioned it was a garage before. What can I even do at this point?
