Book or movie first?
Hey everyone,
My friend and I are going to see The Princess Bride in concert soon and it’s one of my favourite movies but she’s never seen it. she has however heard of it and has wanted to read the book, and we’ve decided to both read it before the concert.
I’ve just started and i’m reminded of the whole meta aspect of the book, which I had forgotten about when I researched it after watching it the first time.
My friend hasn’t started yet. Should I advise her to watch the movie before reading the book?
From my understanding she doesn’t really know anything about the story, in fact she had told me she heard it was a classic enemies to lovers (and i did tell her it’s not the kind of romance she was probably hoping for). She has more preference towards romantasy and i’m unsure if she’ll enjoy Goldman’s commentary. I’m wondering if the movie would be the better first impression considering her interests.
I was thinking i’d just let her know the book was different in a way and it would be up to her whichever she wanted to do first but if anyone has a preference or opinion regarding the order that’d be great!
