Translation help for a headstone

My French is pretty rusty, 30 years after leaving school. However my late mother spoke fluently until the end. She was so determined not to lose that ability she even spoke to the brain surgeon in French during surgery. Anyway, I would like her epitaph to be "Life is what you make it". It was her mantra to live by. Are either of the following an appropriate translation of this idiom or would something else be more correct?

"La vie est Belle que nous la faisons" or

"La vie est ce qu'on en fait"?

Bien merçi.

What's the weirdest thing you've fished out of your pool?

At first I thought it was a leaf or lizard poop but it started moving quite rapidly. We're nearly a mile from the beach.

My brother sent me a picture of his tea. I live in Sri Lanka. Crafting such a thing of beauty and deliciousness is not possible. Very jealous.

Five years ago today we received our first delivery from the Sri Lankan CDS.

I heard squeaks outside our bedroom room window. Luna decided to give birth to Dottie and Douglas in amongst leftover building supplies on the veranda. We don't know where she came from but suspect she chose our house as we are unusually dog free. We hastily made a cozy box for her and snuck bowls of food close by. She was very skittish so we didn't want to try to move them. The following night there was a fierce storm so we decided to bring them inside. We put the kittens in our cat carrier (used to bring our cat from the UK) but Luna ran off. Eventually we decided instead of trying to capture her, we left the carrier on the veranda where she birthed and hoped she would return. Fortunately she did and the next day we brought everyone inside. Luna considered leaving when they were about 6 months but decided the food and cuddles were worth hanging around for.

Douglas is the best boy who loves his mum and sister. He insists on perimeter patrols before we all go in for the night. His preferred sleeping position is the superman pose. Dottie has her mother's torbitude in abundance despite being mostly white. She screams murder if you're not petting her just right. She seems to have outgrown her desire to chase cobras. They always like to help when we're working in the cinnamon and coffee.

Tonight we shall feast on chicken legs!
