A positive post - fistulotomy.
So I'm hoping this will bring some hope to people.
I had an intersphinteric Fistula laid open around 6 weeks ago. I've just seen my surgeon for post discharge and it's healing well. I can go back to normal activities. I am to continue to expect discharge for a few weeks but I can swim etc now.
I had a terrible few months. Mine came from complications of hemorrhoid surgery, I was so stressed I didn't eat properly for pretty much 2 months. Lost a stone in weight, didn't want to use the toilet because of the pain of the fistula.
The actual fistolotomy was far far less painful than the swelling and pain of the fistula getting stool stuck in it. I never experienced pain more than a 3-5/10.
I think it's genuinely important to pick a surgeon who's experienced in dealing with Anal Fistula. Mine was one of the highly regarded ones in London and he was superb.
If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask. I want to thank everyone who responded to me on the group also.
