Runway Closure/NOTAM
I am an operations specialist at a regional airport. We are currently doing a runway extension and have NOTAMs published stating the runway is closed from 2300 local until 0600. We recently had our FAA inspection and were hit for having excessive lips at the end of the blast pad due to this construction. Our ops team identified this issue prior to the inspection and was told by our management that it would not be an issue because it is an ongoing construction project and is to be expected.… well it was an issue and the Inspector made us close the runway until it was brought back to specs. Now our management has told us to allow regional airlines to land and or depart after 2300 even with the runway closure NOTAM in place, because they are trying to make the airlines happy. However, this raises concerns on our level because we are in theory allowing aircraft to operate on a closed runway. We said that we will cancel or amend the NOTAM and we were told not to touch the NOTAM and leave it in place. Can we be hit by an inspector for allowing this to happen?
