I had my immigrant visa interview at the U.S. Embassy in Colombo for a family-sponsored case (I am the petitioner sponsoring my father).
They did NOT request any documents and did NOT return anything specific to fix.
My questions:
What does it usually mean when they issue 221(g) but ask for no documents at all?
Is this just administrative processing or could there still be a problem with approval?
How long does this stage usually take in Colombo for immigrant visas?
Do they normally do background checks on the petitioner, beneficiary, or both?
Is there anything I should proactively do or just wait for embassy contact?
Has anyone had a similar case that later got approved or denied?
Any experiences from Colombo or similar U.S. embassies would really help. Thank you.
