CPAP Coverage in Canada, How does it work?

Finally got added to my wife’s sunlife coverage, as a freelancer I’ve never had anything covered. I paid out of pocket for my Airsense 10 and mask but I’d like to get the 11 and a new hose and mask. Because I’ve never had coverage I’m not sure if I should order online or if there is a certain process? It says that sunlife will cover 100% of CPAP.

Funky hive smell, How’s it looking?

I have two hives, got the NUCS a few weeks back and just out the second brood box on both hives. The picture attached is from one of the hives frames that I moved from the bottom box to the top next to the sugar water. Everything seems looking good and they are starting to build ip the empty frames. Today was fairly hot and they definitely were trying to cool down but there was a slight funky smell from this one hive but my wife said she didn’t smell anything weird.

Wondering how this frame is looking and if there is anything that looks out of place?

How are my frames looking, anything to be concerned about?

First year beekeepers that just got our two NUCS two weeks ago. It’s been raining for the past 5 days and today was the first bit of clear sky so we got to top up their sugar water.

Everything looking okay here? Anything to be concerned about?

How To Deal With Ants Taking Over Our New Hives?!?

We just got our NUCS last week and it’s been going well other than lots of rain. Yesterday we filled up their sugar water frame and since then have noticed a ton of ants on both hives… We live on an acreage and there are ant hills everywhere and they seem to have found our hives.

I saw online that cinnamon is a good way to keep ants away but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything.. Looking for recommendations on how to deal with the ants with our current set up…

Why is one NUC active after rain while the other isn’t?

Installed our first NUCs a few hours ago about 15 minutes before it started raining hard and thundering. Just checked on them after the rain stopped and one hive is very active while the other has no action. Any reason why?

Getting First NUCS today, how’s this looking?!

Today we are picking up our first NUCS, we have two HiveIQ set ups. Unfortunately weather is raining and cloudy the next 5 days and we have to pick up today. We are brand new to this and hoping it goes smoothly. We took off the brood and honey box for both set ups as we’ve heard it’s too much space for a NUC and to add the brood box on once they’ve filled up this first one.

How’s our setup looking? Anything we should change or do differently?

Hi everyone!

My wife and I are jumping into beekeeping for the first time this year on our acreage just outside of Edmonton, in Alberta. We’ve put together our Hive IQ systems and painted them and we have two NUCs arriving in a few weeks.

We are currently prepping the site but have a few questions:

1. Pallets vs. Stands: We are thinking of putting the hives on standard wooden pallets to keep them off the ground. Is this a solid choice for Hive IQ setups, or should we look into dedicated hive stands?

2. Wind Security: Since Hive IQ hives are lighter than wood, we’re worried about them toppling over during winds and spring storms. What’s the best way to anchor these down without damaging the EPS material?

3. Spacing: How much distance should we keep between our two hives?

4. Must-have Accessories: Are there any specific Hive IQ accessories or general gear you wish you’d bought in year one?

Excited to get started. Thanks for the help!
