Needed a mobile leg mount, decided to make my own
I love my PD phone case, but the one thing seemingly missing for me was a way to strap it to my leg. I use a navigation app while flying gliders and don’t have a way to mount my phone in any of the aircraft I might fly. On my leg as a bit of a kneeboard was my goal. Replaced the back plate (4x screws) on my bike mount with a custom cut aluminum sheet. Bought some generic straps online. Works super well!
Going to buy another so I can keep using my bike mount. On that note, does anybody know if the 4-screw pattern on the back of the universal mount matches the bike mount? It would make sense for them to, for manufacturing simplicity. Would save a few bucks to buy the universal mount over the bike mount.
I tried strapping it on my arm and I do see why PD might not like the idea of a running strap—it does seem to sit a bit far from the arm (though I’m not sure it’s much farther than other quick mount options out there).
