I don’t want ghost stories, haunted houses, demonic possesion, serial killers, etc. I want to read something that repeatedly makes me say “w.t.f.” Horrors beyond human comprehension type stuff. For an example I recently finished The Cipher by Kathe Koja. Exactly the vibe I’m going for but that book left me pretty disappointed. Bonus points if one or more characters is slowly driven insane.
