New Raspberry Pi Digital Photo Frame with Immich v3.0.0 Sync
Hey Immich Community,
I've had a DIY Pi 2 photo frame on the wall for almost 10 years now running an old version of Kodi and thought it was time for a refresh. I couldn't find an existing project that ticked all the boxes, such as a web interface, video playback, and transitions for both video and images, so I had a crack at doing my own.
The aim was to make it really easy to get your photos and videos to it, make it look good on the wall, and no editing of config files, it's all web UI. You can configure as many Immich v3 albums as you like, the frame syncs them at an interval of your choice and also transcodes any images or videos down that are too big for a Pi 2 or 3 to play.
If you have a Pi based frame already or keen to look at making one, check out Metixel! It's a 10 minute install via flashing an .img file, create an Immich API key, add 4 permissions and it's up and running. You'll need a Pi 4 or 5 for 4k playback and a Pi 2 or 3 is fine for 1080p, 1GB of RAM and above and you'll be fine.
