Welcome to Classic! Some of us have been around the block, many will be new! Here are some tips and general useful information pertaining to CookieRun Classic, applicable to Kakao CookieRun aswell.
Episodes
CookieRun Classic contains many different levels for you to run in. These are called Episodes.
There are numerical episodes 1 through 6, aswell as 3 special episodes and a rotating temporary episode. The developers are open to adding new episodes, so it's only a matter of time until the number grows! An episode consists of multiple themed stages and ends in a looping extra difficult "hell stage". Running in an episode will cost you one heart.
Different episodes feature different difficulty levels and different energy drain.
Special episodes have a gimmick. Here you will find the Tower of Frozen Waves, CookieRun Classic's "story" mode. 100 floors with 3 stages each, there are different challenges to beat on each floor. Running in a special episode will cost you one key.
While running in any episode you will collect coins, jellies and special mystery boxes. The boxes contain ingredients, currency to unlock certain cookies, jewels, the like. Lots of useful stuff to gather here.
Account upgrades
There are 3 main upgrades that affect your account across the board. Energy, Jellies and Bonus Time.
Energy is your first priority here, max this out as soon as you can. Jellies can wait if you'd like to focus on coin farming first, but this upgrade is important for setting scores. Bonus Time is the least important, so you can put it on the backburner, but you still have to max it to score high!
Boosters
Boosters are temporary upgrades that have to be re-bought after every run. Extra energy, relays, a variety of bonus stuff can be obtained here.
Cookie levels
A short quip on Cookie levels. Most Cookies are upgraded using coins and go up to level 8. As you level them up their energy goes up and their skill gets more powerful.
Combi bonus
Certain Cookies and Pets grant extra effects when used together. Most cookies have a main combi pet, but there are also plenty of secret combis. Explore and enjoy!
Rarities
There are several rarities for your Cookies, Pets and Treasures. In this game they are called Grades.
E-Grade is a special grade reserved for comemorative items.
C-Grade items are your most basic. They have weak effects and likely won't get you anywhere past your first half-hour. There aren't many and they don't do much. The pets have simple effects that affect one jelly at a time.
B-Grade items are where the fun starts. Here you start seeing some fun effects such as starting out in Bonus Time or gettng a coin multiplier! The pets in this grade produce special jellies. Treausures give simple effects.
A-Grades start getting serious. Things related to obstacle destruction, revivals, and speed come into play. A-Grade pets and treasues have slightly more advanced effects.
S-Grades will be the majority of your collection. These are equivalent to the epic rarity in CookieRun: Ovenbreak, and they have fun and unique special skills.
This is also the highest rarity for treasures and pets, the creme de la creme. This category is extremely wide so it's hard to summarise what the limits of the grade are, just know you're in for a fun time with most things here, there is a lot of different effects to choose from.
SS-Grade Cookies are a new Cookie rarity introduced in 2025. These cookies are very powerful, but they are very hard to unlock. They are unlocked and leveled up using soulstones, a new type of currency obtained through challenges and paid bundles.
L-Grade Cookies and Pets are special cookies unlocked through Jewel Puzzles. By collecting gold and rainbow mystery boxes during your runs, you have a chance of receiving an Episode Jewel. These are used for a "gacha" roll, where one of the rewards is an L-Grade Pet or Cookie. This reward is guaranteed after you get every other reward in the "gacha". The Jewel reward for special episodes is a treasure.
Small note for certain treasures. Every Cookie and Pet has a treasure associated with them. These treasures are unlocked by maxing out the related character, and they can be rebought using Crystals if you delete them. The associated treasure is the same grade as its character.
Friends
CookieRun Classic is all about friends! You will be adding a lot of friends. Friends compete against one another to see who can score the highest. But most importantly, friends send lives. And you will send lives to friends so that they'll want to send one back. Lives can stack up, so you can have thousands at a time! But only with friends. Otherwise you can only have 5 lives, and need to wait for a recharge.
There is also an invite event to get free goodies. At the time of writing it's unknown how exactly this invite event is going to work in the global version of the game, but be assured you will be spamming invites to people one way or another.
Gacha
Is it really a CookieRun game without gambling? Of course not. It's present here too!
The gachas in this game are used to unlock Pets and Treasures. You roll the gacha using Crystals, the premium currency.
There are several tiers to these gachas, but you should only really look at the highest tiers, as that is where the desirable items are. Make sure to always do the multi-pull on the treasure gacha, and take advantage of the discount it offers for continuous pulling if you're looking to sink a lot of your Crystals into it. You can pull treasure dupes, but you only really need 3 treasures.
The pet egg is interesting, and introduces some strategy. You cannot pull a maxed pet if there's something else it can give, so the smart play is to max everything before moving on. Costs a lot of time and coins, but saves a lot of Crystals in the long run.
There is also a temporary gacha that shows up once in a while. Squirrel Shop! Here you spend 20 Crystals for one roll with a chance of receiving special treasures and high-grade crafting ingredients.
Power+
Certain Cookies, Pets and Treasures have a ribbon on them that says Power+. Pay attention to this!
Cookies and Pets with the Power+ labels give you buffs that affect every run, regardless of if that cookie is used. This means free score, extra energy, more jellies, all the good stuff! Max these. Prioritise maxing these. They are the cornerstones of your account, as soon as they come home you want them at level 8!
Power+ treasures work a little differently. These have a chance to give you something once a day upon your first log-in. This ranges from things like coins and free boosters to yummy delicious CRYSTALS. For free! Daily! Big stuff. This is a good segue to...
Treasure upgrades
Your treasures have a lot of potential, and you can reach this with some difficulty. Each treasure can be enhanced up to +9. Each treasure can also be evolved into a more powerful version. There is also a random chance of your treasure gettng blessed during evolution, which is basically just an "evolution+". Gives slightly better effects. Hell to get, but basically necessary. This treasure system is the game's major resource sink.
I realise this is a lot to read. This game is a little complex. But hopefully it gave you a small idea of what the loop here is like. Enjoy Classic!
CookieRun Classic: Coin grinding for newbies
As most have heard, Classic is releasing soon. I figured I'd write a little coin guide for people unfamiliar.
CookieRun Classic is a very grind heavy game. You'll need lots of coins, and they aren't super easy to come by. This can be a little shocking for CookieRun: Ovenbreak players, where coins aren't an issue. Enter coin grinders.
Several cookies are of note. Namely Cheesecake Cookie, Mint Choco Cookie, Banana Cookie, Gulab Jamun Cookie and Potato Salad Cookie. They are relatively difficult to unlock, so I recommend skipping the grind and using your starter crystals to immediately unlock Potato Salad Cookie, the best coin grinder in the game.
In addition, you should max out Buttercream Choco Cookie. Having him as your relay gives you a flat % coin bonus.
Also, you should max out Cheesecake Cookie once you get her, she has a Power+ effect that gives you coins!
Power+ effects are a special mechanic where certain cookies and pets give you buffs that can trigger during your run. There are also Power+ treasures that have a chance of giving you freebies once a day when you log into the game.
For pets, there is a major issue. They are all unlocked through a random gacaha draw. You cannot plan around this, so you'll have to use whatever you can get your hands on! Usually the best pets for coin grinding are revival pets such as Mr Limeguard or Furball Pup, or coin-based pets like Coin Scale and Sold-Out Bread (Potato Salad's combi pet!)
Treasures are here too, and you can play around with these. There are many, many treasures that give you coin % boosts and generate extra coins. One to look out for is the Banana Peel that can be obtained through the gacha draw. You also receive treasures from maxing cookies and pets, and as you might have guessed, some coin-based cookies and pets give a treasure that gives a coin % boost. Cheesecake gives an okay one, Gold Drop does too.
You have 3 slots, but one of them will be reserved for Angel Cookie's treausure, the feather. This treasure gives you a magnetic aura, which helps with gathering coins. Therefore, Angel Cookie is another cookie to add to the list. There are many other magnet treasures but the feather isn't locked to the gacha.
Another important thing to keep in mind is your random boost! Before your run starts, you can get a random boost from the treasure chest button in the boost section. One of these boosts will DOUBLE the coins gathered during your run, this is extremely important!
This should cover the basic coingrind in CookieRun Classic. Quick TLDR recap:
Unlock Potato Salad using crystals. Use Buttercream Choco as relay. Use revival or coin boosting pets. Use a magnet treasure and coin treasures. Always use the 2x coin random boost. Max out Power+ cookies as they come.
You'll be doing this for hours. Days. Weeks. This is a lot of the gameplay in this game, and will allow you to get millions upon millions of coins per hour, letting you build your account somewhat fast. And while you're grinding, you'll get mystery boxes with ingredients for treasure upgrades, aswell as episode jewels to unlock legendary cookies such as Tiger Lily!
I hope you'll love Classic as much as many others have come to love it, happy grinding!
