First mini road trip

First time leaving town in our EV. Wife has had an I6 for a couple years now but we always took my CRV if it was beyond a charge's worth of driving. My I5 did pretty great. We charged 3x, twice at a Rivian charger that was easy/straightfoward (with adapter) but quite pricey and finally at an Ionna Chargery coming home that was less than half price ($.20/kW, think it was a 4th of July sale) and just as fast. Both were pulling in ~150 kW and brought us from 30 or 40% to 80 in 10/15min. Definitely an adjustment from gassing up, but honestly not a big deal when getting a drink or using the bathroom. When we ever do a more extensive trip, I think we'll give one of the apps (ABRP) or the built in a chance to map things out for us. Overall, not as scary as expected from almost exclusive home charging and a bit of fun.

The family is complete

Wife got her '23 Ioniq 6 a couple years ago and I've been jealous ever since. Made the plunge and traded in my CRV for a new '25 SEL in artic white. Love this car. Hers is limited and has some nice features mine doesn't, but the rear wiper and wireless Android auto are some nice creature comforts. Excited to be here and be a total ICEless fam.

Dealer turned down cash offer. Take to other dealers?

Honestly, new to car buying. Our previous 3 cars were never bought in the "traditional" sense involving offers, counters, etc. After a decent experience at the Hyundai dealer Friday where they matched the Carmax trade in offer and we negotiated down $1500 from the price on a 2025 Ioniq 5 (new, just last year's model), they turned down my offer once I said I was paying cash. There were no incentives that presumed financing. I've no interest in financing and paying off month 1.

We have several other Hyundai dealers in the area. Does it make sense to take this offer there to see if they'll match/beat? Should I now tell them I'm paying cash up front? I know Hyundai screwed the pooch by dropping the MSRP $10k on the 2026s, but that's not my fault. Just wondering if I'll encounter the same situation at all of them.

Looking at a few dealers in our area (relatively HCOL) who have stock of new 25s they're trying to unload. Was wondering if anyone has bought any recently and what prices are going for? Most are around $40k for SELs, but I've seen as low as $37k. Should I be pushing closer to 32, 33? I will not be financing so that's not a concern. Not interested in a 2026; next step is to find a used 2025 but they're still pretty rare around here and CarMax wants a ton for them.
