Hey everyone, new here — indie dev from India

Hi all, I'm Dhivakar. Been lurking for a while, finally posting.

I'm a solo developer from India — I build small Android apps in my free time, mostly offline utilities and media tools. No team, no funding, just me and a laptop after hours. Full-time Linux user, and I have a soft spot for 2000s-era software design.

Still learning the whole publishing side of things, which is honestly harder than the coding part. Looking forward to hanging around, helping where I can, and learning from people who've done this before.

Nice to meet you all.

[Closed Testing] RetroBeat — offline music player, no ads, no internet permission. Happy to test back!

Hey everyone! I built a local music player for Android and need 12 testers for the 14-day closed test. Happy to return the favour — drop your link in the comments and I'll join yours today.

**RetroBeat — offline music player**

Plays the music already on your device. No streaming, no account, no ads, no analytics. The app doesn't even request the INTERNET permission, so it has no way to send anything anywhere.

What's in it:

- Library tabs — Tracks, Albums, Artists, Genres, Liked, Playlists, Groups. Reorderable, hide the ones you don't use

- Full player with album-art-tinted background, drag-to-reorder queue, swipe to skip

- Real equalizer (presets + per-band), applied to the actual audio pipeline

- **Retro mode** — a Windows Media Player style skin with 8 XP-era visualisations (Ambience, Alchemy, Plenty, Bars, Ocean Mist, Scope, Battery, Fire Storm). Tap to cycle

- Folder exclusion so ringtone/notification folders stay out of your library

- Everything stays local — uninstall removes it all

**How to join (2 steps):**

  1. Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/retrobeat-testers

  2. Then opt in here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.retrobeat.retrobeat

Android 7.0+ (minSdk 24). Install it, keep it for the 14 days, and use it as your daily player if you like it — real feedback is very welcome, especially on the library scan with big collections and anything that looks off on your device.

Comment when you've joined and I'll do the same for your app. Thanks! 🎵
