My CachyOS live USB is the best tool in my kit
I’m someone who experiments a lot with different hardware and keep a USB with CachyOS in my drawer for when I need to troubleshoot or mess around with partitions.
I’ve had many situations where I’ve tried booting another OS via USB and it just doesn’t work, so I’ll give the ole Cachy USB a go, and it always works, no matter how weird the hardware I’m using is.
I think it just goes to show how advanced chwd is.
It’s always such a relief when it does boot up and proves I’m not insane and that there’s just an incompatibility with the other USB I’m trying to boot. Usually driver related.
The biggest reach it has made was booting with a 20 year old GPU that doesn’t come with drivers on other OSes.
It’s also given a great sanity check when booting on an old af Mac mini, which ultimately saved my ass because someone completely wiped the drive in it and it no longer could boot Mac OS either.
Does anybody else keep a Cachy USB for similar reasons?
