“We’ve got 26 engaged dogs in there that wanna win games.”

Quote of the day from Lovullo post-game interview. Every year I hear talk about getting rid of him and why is he putting certain lineups out, blah blah blah. This dude cares about these guys like they’re his own kids. I’ll admit, I was certain we were a doomed team after Friday. I thought the whole situation and the overall uncertainty about it was gonna infect their minds and take the wildcard race out of focus. But the way these guys gutted this game out, I believe we can continue this push. Hopefully Nootbar’s home run magically turns him around, Arenado is back, Perdomo leading his team, and Lovullo getting back some much needed familiar faces back, these dogs find a way like they’re did in 2023!

Last Turkey Trot Ideas

My K-8 school is closing after this year due to our district’s pi$$ poor planning and dropping enrollment. Anyway, as a PE teacher, my big events are Turkey Trot and Field Day. I’m looking for one-time, probably gonna need help from PTO, ideas to make our last TT one to remember.

I usually do two sessions, K-2 and 3-5, and I use select middle schoolers as class helpers, or they can petition to run with siblings in the lower grades. I haven’t had a MS session because the majority wouldn’t be enthusiastic about it. I always dress up as a turkey, so that’s been a staple for about 15 years now.

Any other ideas?

Advantage Members help request

I can only purchase two of the Harry Potter scarves for my daughter. I got a Ravenclaw and a Slytherin. I’d like to get her a complete set but I need someone to get me the other two (Hufflepuff and Gryffendor). They’re $10 each if you use the advantage member link and I can bring cash to you at the game. I have weekend series tix, so it’ll have to be one of those games after the event night. Thanks in advance if you can.

Girls sports assembly

I teach K-8 PE at my school in AZ. One of my former female students is coming back in town and I want to hold an all-girl assembly to promote girls in sports. For so long now, I’ve seen these little rough and tough girls come into kindergarten and love sports and games, compete with the boys, play hard, etc. Then, around 4th grade, they start to act like they have no interest in playing anything.
This former student of mine just finished her first semester as a D1 athlete (basketball) at the U of A. Towards the end of her high school career, she was in Australia at the Australian Institute of Sport and traveled with the 19u National Team last summer.
So I want to bring her in, have her talk to the girls about the benefits of team sports, what it really takes to play at the next level, and how she has seemed to overcome this self-doubt phenomena that I have seen just stop some girls in their tracks.

I guess the whole point of this post is, what questions should I be asking to kind of get that out of her? Thanks for reading this.
