Benedict’s Second Gotcha Day!!

Benedict celebrated his second gotcha day recently! When I adopted him, he was a scared and severely reactive dog. With time, training, unconditional love, and a little extra patience he has blossomed into a silly and deeply loving dog.

He’s my first dog that isn’t a family dog. I adopted him while I was taking time off of grad school and now I just recently graduated. While he hasn’t been in my life long, he’s been there for so much. He was there when I said goodbye to my childhood dog, when I was losing my mind at a truly horrific job, he sat with me countless nights as I wrote my thesis and prepared to defend it. I’m so happy I decided to go meet him at the shelter on a whim. He’s truly the best part of everyday 💖

Is Five Points or Uptown safe for a single woman to live?

I’m going to be moving to Denver for a job and am looking for relatively safe areas for single women to live. My job is between Five Points and Uptown so I’m looking in that area for an affordable place. That being said, I am going to be a living alone as a woman and want to make sure I’m living somewhere safe and won’t have to worry about significant amounts of crime. If anyone has other suggestions for safe and affordable spots around those areas, I’d love to hear about them!

Revise and resubmit before peer review?

I recently submitted part of my master's thesis to a really good cultural rhetorics journal. They got back to me this morning and said they'd like me to make a few changes before sending it to their readers/reviewers. Is this a good sign? Is it normal to be asked to make pretty minor revisions before the next part of the review process? This is my first time submitting my work for publication so I have no idea what this process is supposed to look like.
