Hi Lander Trail Angels,

I’m currently dealing with a serious gear situation and could use some advice or help. I am new in the FB group "CDT Trail Angels" and can't post there without review of the admins. Hoping for better luck here on reddit.

I flew into Denver to start my NOBO CDT section hike, but my checked luggage has been lost in transit and is still marked as “searching” with no clear location or timeline for recovery. It contains some of my backpacking gear like my sleeping quilt. Fortunatelly I had most of the other critical in my carry on.

At this point I’m trying to create a backup plan: I will be passing through Lander in about 12 days on my way north, and I was wondering if there is anyone in or near Lander who would be willing to let me use a physical mailing address (USPS general delivery will probably not work).

The idea would be to have my lost gear and stuff (if it eventually gets forwarded or recovered by the airline) shipped there, so I can pick it up when I arrive in town.

In the meantime I am hiking with a mix of borrowed and improvised gear to finally start moving north.

If anyone is able to help or knows a trusted Trail Angel in the Lander area who can receive a package like this, I would really appreciate it.

I’m currently in a bit of an emergency situation. My checked luggage was lost during my flight, and I’m now in Denver without my backpacking sleep system.

I’m looking to buy a lightweight 10–20°F ultralight quilt in the Denver / Colorado area (I’m a cold sleeper, so warmer is better).

My preferred option would be:

Katabatic Gear Alsek 20 (Long / Wide)

But I’m also open to similar quilts, such as:

Zpacks 20F Quilt (or comparable Zpacks sleeping bag)

Enlightened Equipment Revelation Quilt 10-20°F

Feathered Friends Flicker UL Quilt

Feathered Friends sleeping bags in the 10–20°F range

etc.

Main requirements:

Warm enough for cold sleeper (10–20°F comfort range preferred)

Lightweight

Long/ wide enough for 186cm / 78kg male hiker

Good / clean / hygienic condition

Needed ASAP

I am not mobile, so ideally:

pickup in Denver area, or

meet-up somewhere accessible via public transport

- Adotec 14L bear bag

- or alternatively a Ursack Major XL

Condition should be clean / lightly used.

I would really appreciate any help from the community. I’m trying to get on trail as quickly as possible after losing all my gear and wasting nights in a hotel waiting for my luggage to show up.

Hey everyone,

I’m currently planning my resupply strategy for a NOBO CDT section hike/LASH starting in Grand Lake, CO and heading toward Canada.

What’s the usual resupply situation like in Encampment, WY? Is the Sinclair gas station there decent enough for a basic resupply with bars, snacks, candy, chips, etc.?

I’d really like to avoid sending myself a box if possible. For the ~3 days to Rawlins I’m totally fine surviving on simple snacks and hiker junk food, so I don’t need a full grocery selection — just wondering if there’s usually enough usable stuff there for that kind of stretch.

Would appreciate any recent experiences. Thanks!
