Going all in

I’m currently coming up on my 11th year in the fire service, and with my business growing rapidly I’m beginning to think about the possibility of going full time with my lawn business. However I’m 1/3 of the way through my career as a fire fighter, therefore it makes it an extremely tough decision to just leave all this behind. Anyone else left a career they spent a considerable amount of time in to grow their company? Looking for any and all advice.

Balancing Gym Life

Was curious to see how everyone who maintains some sort of a gym routine finds the balance between the gym and owning a lawn company? Are yall getting it in before you get out to mowing? Or just strictly saving it for the days you’re not mowing?

Apartment Bid Advice

Looking for some advice on how to quote an apartment complex. Property owner isn’t happy with his current company and wants my company to come in with a quote. I’ve never done anything on this scale and want to make the most of it. Could lead to his other 10 complexes if he likes our work.

We will have 4-6 guys at each service, and the quote will be for mowing, weedeating, edging, blowing, and light flower bed maintenance/upkeep.

Need Advice!

I am a full time firefighter who owns a lawn company as my side business. I’m looking at a large expansion, which will have me acquiring several apartment complexes to maintain. This will drastically improve my revenue, however, will require me to buy a larger trailer and additional mower and equipment and ultimately a larger truck. Currently I have a Ford that is my personal truck and a Chevy for my business; both of which are only 1/2 tons. My Ford is about 10k upside down and monthly payment comes out of my fire department check. My Chevy is completely paid off and I have about 25k positive equity. I’m torn on if I trade or sell both of these trucks to get into a newer bigger truck with low mileage so that it is dependable for a couple years until I can buy a second personal truck that will not be used for business at all. I have a private investor who is going to loan me all the money needed to expand, so the funds for a newer truck are there at a much lower interested rate (5% or less) than if I went through a bank. If I get rid of both, I free up around 1k per month with what I pay for my Ford note and insurance out of my fire department check, however I limit myself to one truck IF I ever ran into mechanical issues. The business will absolutely fund itself and let me have profit to pay my business loan back, however, if I free up the money from my fire department check, I always have an additional thousand dollars as a cushion if I were to ever need it. On days that I am now out mowing grass and am off duty, I average about 100-160 miles of driving. With that being said I drive a lot and will be putting a lot of miles on a single truck used for personal and business. Do I free the money up and use one low mileage truck for 2-3 years? Or do I keep my personal truck so that I have a back up?
