First time in Joburg query?

Hello! I’m from the Eastern Cape and staying in CPT and am planning to visit Joburg (amongst a couple other cities across the country) for the first time. I will likely be there for around a week in late November/early December, and I am also wanting to go to Pretoria for an additional 3-4 days.

Please excuse my naivety, but I am quite unfamiliar with Joburg’s layout and lifestyle and would really appreciate if anybody could please give me some insight 😅

I firstly want to ask what suburbs/areas I should look at & and avoid for accommodation, regarding access to things to do and also safety.

Then, I won’t be driving so I wanted to know if Ubering is a reliable way of getting around everywhere or if there is something else I should look at.

Lastly, if you have any other general tips/pointers/suggestions of things to do, or things to be aware of, that would also be much appreciated, although I am also compiling some things myself.

I’ve heard so much about Joburg and thought it’s about time I experience one of the country’s most prominent cities, so I’m super excited - thank you in advance for the help!

First time visiting & booking advice?

Hi! Please excuse my naivety - I am planning a solo trip around a few South African cities for this October/November and am trying to see if it is feasible to fit in Kruger for 3-5 days in late October.

I am South African but I honestly have no knowledge about the park or best practices for visiting it, and I have been learning quite a bit from scrolling through the posts on here. Hence, I thought I would ask these two baseline questions I had:

Firstly, I’m wanting to know if it’s too late in the year to consider booking for a Kruger visit in late October? I am aware it’s a major tourist attraction so that wouldn’t surprise me.

Secondly, climate/animal-wise is this time of year a good time to visit the park?

I am at the very beginning stages of trying to plan my visit so although I need to still figure out how to book and where to stay etc, but will do further research before asking further about those.

I hope my queries don’t come across as too silly. Thanks!
