I wanted to redraw an official artwork of these two. I couldn’t do the grass properly because I mixed up the layers. oops. Either way, OTP
My protestant evangelical friend seems to be, at least, “warming” a little bit towards Catholicism. She’s not a hardcore Christian, so I guess that’s also an influence, but I’m still hopeful!
I’ve discussed with her about things like the death penalty and abortion, I’ve got her to seriously reflect on stop being pro-death penalty and got her to admit that all unborn babies are still babies. Other than that, she’s really fascinated by the church’s beauty and has sent me photos of some small icons she’s found + even wandered inside a church on her own when she was on a trip!!! out of pure curiosity!! She also has shown interest in knowing how to pray in Latin (I taught her the Gloria) and the Hail Mary. Other than that, she’s also asked for the intercession of saints before (but I think that’s just kind of a cultural thing over here in my country, even non-caths pray to saints sometimes) and even said she thinks the Virgin Mary veneration is GOOD!
so we are planning on going to mass together next Friday and I’m really excited. I’m planning on writing her a little guide so she can read it on the day and not get lost. Since she’s not a hardcore Christian I’m quite nervous that this might just be a phase. I really, really want her to convert, but I don’t know what to do other than pray... And I really don’t want to mess up. 😅 What would you do in my place? Is there anything possible of doing or should I let God work in His mysterious ways?
This is a painting I made in late June, it is about Christ’s descent from the Cross. It is not a realistic interpretation (Our Lord would have been much more wounded/bloody and a skull did not literally help carry Jesus’ body) nor a painting with a lot going on. It was something rather experimental. Despite that, I tried to shake around with the symbolism:
Christ‘s descent from the Cross. At first glance, it might seem like Christ was defeated, submitted into the position of being held and carried around by the Death itself. It grabs Him, ready to leave and hide Him for eternity. Whatsoever, Death actually submits itself to Our Lord’s divinity. It has been washed by His blood (making reference to the classic skull of Adam in paintings), deliberately defeated by God’s grace, and it recognizes that. It gives Him up to us, He does not belong to it. Despite being dead, His chest still lightens because of his Sacred Heart, that still burns for all humanity. Jesus makes the sign of the Trinity with His lifted hand. All sorrow would be just a temporary moment. It is all a victory that has already been announced, just not yet explicit. Christ won. Death is no longer.
God bless!
Hello, friends! So, I have a question about the holy eucharist and when I can receive it. I know that you can’t receive it in mortal sin, but I’ve seen countless times in some consciousness exams that receiving the Eucharist without being spiritually prepared is also a sin.
I am an altar server, and I usually serve on daily masses + Sunday. Since I kind of only work alongside children on the weekdays I have to pay some extra attention to everything, focusing on the coordination of the mass, what to do and when to do it… Other than the fact I’m usually holding the roman missal for the priest, so I gotta keep paying attention to key details, like turning pages, holding the mic, pointing at the right text…
The point is that I feel like I’m paying attention to the practical things more than I am to the actual spiritual gifts of the mass. I love being an altar server with all my heart, but sometimes it’s tough!! So I wanted to ask if skipping communion would be considered sin, even though I’m not in mortal sin. I always feel troubled because I don’t know if I am spiritually prepared to receive it or not. I don’t want to treat the Eucharist as a casual event and I’m unsure if I’d be profaning Our Lord, which would be a mortal sin. Could anybody help me with this? God bless!
